Setting Up Sessions
​Your initial session at Red Gum Psychology is an opportunity for your psychologist to understand your presenting concerns, history of difficulties, and goals for the therapy space. From this, your psychologist will work with you to develop a treatment plan.
Sessions are available in person and online, in addition to at home and school depending on needs of the individual and presenting concerns.
Individual Therapy
We offer individual therapy under mental health treatment plans, private pay, and for NDIS participants. Please see clinician profiles for a summary of our areas of interest and expertise. Fees and rebates depend on the type of service you are receiving.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) appointments
We currently service NDIS clients under the Self-managed and Plan-managed pathways. Our fees follow the rates set by the NDIS and come out of your NDIS Plan (under Improved Daily Living). The NDIS therapy rate for psychology is $222.99 per session and there is no gap fee for participants.

Medicare rebated and private pay appointments
The cost of a standard consultation (55 minutes) is $185.00. This rate is significantly lower than that recommended fee of $300.00 set by the Australian Psychological Society. Fees are processed electronically (there are no EFTPOS facilities at our office). If you have been referred under a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will be able claim a rebate of $96.65 through Medicare.

You need to pay the full fee on the day and our healthcare management system will process the rebate for you, which is received in your bank account the following day or the day after.
Under a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan review and closure letters are provided as part of an agreed service at no charge. Additional letters as per request of clients are charged at a flat rate of $185. No rebates are available for this service.
Missed appointments, reschedules and cancellations
As a self-funded service, Red Gum Psychology relies on session payments to operate. When you book an appointment with our service, the psychologist reserves the allotted time especially for you. Non- attendance and cancellations cost our service and are a missed opportunity to have granted the allocated time to another client on the waiting list.
Medicare rebated and private pay appointments
If you cannot attend, would like to reschedule, or need to cancel your appointment; you need to give a minimum notice of 24 hours business days' notice by phone, text or email. You will be required to pay the full fee for the missed appointment. No rebates are paid by Medicare for missed appointments. This policy is necessary to ensure that Red Gum Psychology can continue to operate as a small business.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) appointments
In line with NDIS guidelines, a late cancellation is anything less than 2 clear business days’ notice. If you cancel late or do not attend an appointment, your NDIS Plan will be charged the session fee for that appointment.
